Grad....i mean Promotion Nite

She did it. The girl has graduated...or "promoted" I should say. They aren't allowed to say graduate. It's a promotion ceremony to initiate them into the big bad high school.
One of my kids walked. I'll take it.
June 3rd was the big day. She got dropped off at the school around 5:40 and me and Gma and Deanna went to go wait in line for seats. It was concert atmosphere to say the least. All walks of people standing in line with umbrellas, water and sweat. Niiiice.
Towards the time of the gates opening, "security" walked around and said there would be bag checking for any food or water. Gma got nervous cause she had water and pretzles. She was going to either toss them or pony up to the fact that she had contraband. Nu-uh. Give me to me I said and i proceeded to stuff food and water all over my body. It's a big body, so it worked out nicely.
Once making it past the water Furher, we sat down and waited for the rest of the family. Aunie M, Uncle D, R, R's friend Ch, Daddy, brother, friend Nic and Auntie Raq. 13 total.

The girl of course was on the sunny side. go figure.

The ceremony was short. They rambled off those names like an auctioneer. At the call of the girls name, we of course all stood up and cheered our loudest. R, and her friend and I all stood up and held up the sign I had made with big glittery letters. Tru to form the girl didn't even look over. Brat.

After the last name was called , the family and friends were then corraled into the baseball field to find their offspring. It was actually pretty smooth. Each grad, dammit i mean "promotee", was given a number 1 - 6, so that we could find them easily.

Gma cried, brother was non chalant, Dad was proud, aunts/ uncles all smiles. It was a good day.

The girl couldn't stick around too long cause her week of celebrating started at 8:45 that night. The first of many parties, limo's and get-togethers. First night out was a limo ride around town for 2 hrs. with 13 of her friends.

the life!

That's sweet. Congratulations to all of you. Seems like yesterday little shit number one was graduating from middle school and he is already a junior at university. Time goes too freakin' fast, that's for sure.
